Customer Reviews
I looked everywhere for a single earbud that would allow me to control my music. I like to walk the dog and shop with music but can't really do this if I can't hear what is going on around me and I got tired of having one bud bouncing around on my chest or tucked into my shirt. I also have my hands full and don't want to fish around for my phone to advance tracks. I am not sure why more companies don't make this product but I am happy that Jlab does! Before buying I had trouble figuring out exactly what the remote would allow me to do. the description said something vague like controlling music but this could just mean that it will stop music allowing you to answer calls - esp with one button. i was relieved when I got it to confirm that the single button allows you to FF or RW or Pause like Apple's set. I don't think they can control volume but I can live with that.
I found the fit to be comfortable and the sound quality was good for me- I am not an 'audiophile - I can tell when things sound bad- muffled or tinny and did not think these sounded bad. If you are buying a single earbud you are going to be hearing lots of other sounds and can't possibly expect too much of a listening experience so I imagine the sound would be fine for most people interested in this category.
I did not try them with answering calls or sound quality of the mic but that is not important to me.
The reason that I did not get to test these things and can't now is that the headphones got snagged on something (a minor snag that did not even pull the clip off my shirt or the bud out of my ear) and the cord pulled out of the mic/remote and was cleanly disconnected as though the connection was not tight enough. This could be a fluke and JLab is sending me a replacement free of charge (and I don't have to send the other ones back) so I will not take much away for that. In the reviews I read under the black pair it did seem as though others had issues with durability so that concerns me a bit. I am willing to be extra careful with the next pair but if you are using these in an active setting you might want to be extra careful.
As for their customer service: First and foremost - You MUST REGISTER YOUR PRODUCT WITHIN 30 days! No, for real. This is not like other warranty registration where you can just prove you purchased them on X date. THe warranty that is included says this but frankly I did not notice and I suspect most people assume proof of purchase is enough for warranty and I have to say it seems ridiculous that you have to also register them with a crazy long serial number that is included in the package (don't lose this) but that is their right, particularly if they are going to honor it which they seem to. I did not register them and only looked into it when they broke which was 32 days after purchase. They let me register them at that point but if it had been 6mos I would probably have been SOL. So when you get your buds, REGISTER IMMEDIATELY!
Their website was finicky (don't try from your iPad- but customer service by email responded within a day when I had an issue. When I made the warranty claim- I got no fuss - it just said since it was less than a year they would send me a new pair. Piece of Cake- I assume they will arrive fine in a week- if something different happens I'll come back and update.
FYI-At the time of this review the amazon is twice what I paid just over a month ago so you might want to watch the price. check out a website called camel camel camel to see price history.
I was expecting a 4 -5 star product. Did not feel that I received that. I had decent audio clarity with the earbud, but got complaints that MY voice sounded muffled and far away while speaking with others. I tried moving the mic, but did not get results that were much improved. Wouldn't buy again, but will keep because it's not worth my time to return it and look for something better.
